Fiction, “KORNERZS” is richly delicate and anchored in restricted love of family.

Loosely written in regional dialect follow Joyce as she desperately seeks the love that became elusive and unobtainable. Set in the Washington, District of Columbia area it ties the everyday people that were noticeable and the everyday people that were not.

Each in their own way molding and shaping the lives of characters that were thrown into a web of dishonesty, lies, and deceit.

For selfish gain she was used as a pawn in the game of life. Without warning snatched from the only existence she knew, and was thrown into a downward spiral that constantly, at any moment, spins out of control. Tirelessly her captives were unpredictable, shrewd, and manipulating, so the only way to fight back was in her “MYND.”

Each time I shelved characters, with a vengeance they would emerge again and again more determined than the last time to stake claim and be recognized.  So too, now they have become some of my most prominent characters. An unbalance of imaginary lives that with empathy or sympathy will keep you intrigued and uncontrollably turning to the next page.

Meet some of “KORNERZS” Players:

Otis Booker-T Farmer- The world is his playground, and he demonstrates it his lifestyle. He is charismatic as he manipulates and deceives people with ease.

Shirleen Williams Farmer- Infatuated with the concept of “Otis”, she was completely out of her league. No longer willing to surrender herself to him, she did the next best thing.

Willie Elroy Farmer-Taught his son everything except how to be a man.

Odella Williams- Grounded in spiritually, she was always looking to replace her deceased husband.

Mary Farmer Postell-When her husband is questionably killed and the death of her mother, she becomes the family Monarch.

EXCERPTS

Chapter One
The scent of Channel number five was intoxicating as it filled the air. As I stood at the bathroom sink on my tip toes watching her pin up her thick velvety black hair that was sparkling like winters ice on asphalt in a French roll. Turning her head back and forth up and down making sure every hair was in place. Those busy eyebrows were arched and made to lie down with just a touch of Vaseline.

Chapter Seven
As the men proceeded to the pool, Mama gasped, as she stood up and almost dropped Leah from her lap. Grandma asked,
“What’s wrong with you chile?”
“Mama look, that’s Otis!”
“My LORD! What in the world! Sit down Shirleen, sit down let the Lord do his work.”

Chapter Twelve
I couldn’t believe she was wearing Aunt Janice’s red lipstick! She was so pretty, prettier than Aunt Janice. I could feel her heart was black, cold and hard. There was something evil in her and I could feel it. Like a black hole inviting and unending. I just sat there feeling fearful of her and there was nothing I could do to protect or me.

Chapter Seventeen
“I told ya time and time ‘gain keep that woman out your house. She meant ya no good. She ain’t no friend of yours, coming ‘found here play actin’ like she ya friend and the whole time wanting ya husband. Hell she couldn’t keep her own.
